Departmental Activities

Along with continuing the study of the syllabus-oriented teaching-learning process, the department also actively engaged in numerous cultural and social activities. The department in its leisure time also arranged performing arts such as Drama, Classical Dance, Paintings etc. Students are also active in all these activities.

The pupils of the department every year enthusiastically take part in NSS and fieldwork.

Departmental Wall MagazineReminiscences’ every year portrays the artistic skill of the students. Besides, departmental teachers are fond of directing drama (performing theatre) and (composing poems) in their vernacular languages.

Seminar and Workshop:

The department organised national, and state level seminars and lecture series programmes to help the students develop their faculty and critical investigation towards literature.

One National Seminar on the Environment and its Praxis,

One STATE level Seminar on Ramayana and Mahabharata and

 An International Webinar on Drama entitled Let Them Anatomise the Dramam was also organised.

The Saga of Unsung Tribal Heroes of Freedom Movement of India Projected in History, Literature, and Print Media by ICSSR in 2023 organised.

Another Workshop on Digital Literacy and Effective Use of Social Media sponsored by the National Commission of Women was also organised.

Lecture Series: The 14-day lecture series was organised by the Department of English by various faculties of English from various universities and colleges of India.

However, English department is growing day by day and now we have a big family. We believe in quality not in quantity. Knowledge is more important than marks; hence, our dept always awards marks based on subtlety, punctuality, right judgment, proper evaluation, and minute observation of the pupil and their learning-oriented activities. ‘Knowledge is power’ is the motto of our department.

6. Discussion on Tribal and Folk Culture, Literature and Cultural  Analysis 

7. Region-centric Protest Literature  related to discourses of Regionalism and  Problem literature

8. Discussion on Literature, Literary Resistance in the background of Jungle Mahal and  adjacent states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa
